How does the speaker’s attitude toward himself change throughout the poem?

It shifts from arrogant to uncertain as Mr. Mali sees that his poetry is not as powerful as he thought it was.

It shifts from proud to humble as Mr. Mali realizes that his students, not his poems, will be the means through which he will change the world.

It shifts from insecure to confident as Mr. Mali recognizes how much influence he has had in Lilly Wilson’s life.

It shifts from distracted to focused as Mr. Mali takes time to speak with Lilly Wilson.

Answer:

I believe the answer is B) It shifts from proud to humble as Mr. Mali realizes that his students, not his poems, will be the means through which he will change the world.

Step-by-step explanation:

If it isn't I'm sorry!! But through the poem Mr. Mali talks about Lilly writing her own poem and how he is proud that it is difficult and that she is interested in writing one, and later become humble, by realizing how simply he can just ask her a question and he can shape her mind and change it's trajectory oh so simply as Lilly is just an 8th grader. But that's not how he is humble, that's what makes him realize it, because afterwards he talks about how this is what brings him joy and makes him feel like a teacher, and he thanks Lilly for showing him that more and more so as Mr. Mali realizes that Lilly is the kind of student that makes Mr. Mali's job as a teacher all that more meaningful.
