Young people drink because of multiple reasons. Maybe they feel pressured to, or their curious, or want to find something to distract themselves if they feel like their going through something. They feel inclined to do whatever everyone else is doing, so they follow along. It can be stopped by creating more awareness for young drinkers to prevent this problem from being increased.

Answer: They are curious. They want to be accepted and belong. Their friends are doing it. It makes them feel older. Set and enforce clear standards, including standards about alcohol use.
