Answer:

y=-3x+16

Explanation:

Slope intercept form is y=mx+b

To find slope you do y2-y1 divided by x2-x1

x1= 5 y1= 1

x2=8 y2= -8

(-8-1)/(8-5) =(-9)/(3)= -3

Our slope is -3, now we need to plug in one of the points to find our y intercept.

y=mx+b\\1=-3(5)+b\\1=-15+b\\16=b

Last, we write in slope intercept form.

y=-3x+16
