I know from the answer key that the answers are x=12
and y=8, but I'm not sure how to get there...​

(1) 7/3.5 = 3y/x (2) 7/3.5 = (x + 4)/y

2 = 3y/x 2 = (x + 4)/y

2x = 3y 2y = x + 4

2x - 3y = 0 -x + 2y = 4 Multiply by 2 and add to (1)

-2x + 4y = 8

y = 8 -x + 2(8) = 4

-x + 16 = 4

-x = -12

x = 12
