Answer:

1 5/6x - 4 2/3

Explanation:

Find the least common multiple for -2 1/4x and 3 7/12x

4: 4,8,12,16,18,20

12: 12,24,36,48,50

You can see that 4 and 12 both have 12 in common

-2 1/4x = (1/4x * 3 on top and bottom you will get 3/12x ) = -2 3/12x

3 7/12x = 3 7/12x (denominator is already 12)

add -2 3/12x + 3 7/12x , you will get 1 10/12x, but make sure to simplify

keep 4 2/3 because the variable are different

therefore the answer will be 1 5/6x - 4 2/3
