Does anyone know how the whole y=mx+b situation works? Daughters asking... not too good at math.

To find out, suppose
(x_(1), y_(1)) and
(x_(2) ,y_(2) ) are two points on the graph of

y = mx + b.

Then
y_(1) =mx_(1) +b and
y_(2) =mx_(1) +b.

Use algebra to simplify
(y_(2) -y_(1) )/(x_(1) -x_(2) )

And give a geometric interpretation.

Hope this helps,
