When dividing powers that have the same base, subtract the exponents.

So 4³/4⁵ is the same as 4³ ⁻ ⁵ or 4⁻².

When we have a base taken to a negative exponent,

it means the same thing as 1 over the base to the positive exponent.

In other words, we can rewrite 4⁻² as 1/4² or 1/16.

\huge\text{Hey there!}

\mathsf{(4^3)/(4^5)}\\\\\mathsf{= \frac{4*4*4}{{4*4*4*4*4}}}\\\\\mathsf{= (16*4)/(16*16*4)}\\\\\mathsf{= (64)/(256*4)}\\\\\mathsf{= (64)/(1,024)}\\\\\mathsf{= (64/64)/(1,024/64)}\\\\\mathsf{= (1)/(16)}}\\\\\mathsf{= (1)/(4^2)}\\\\\\\huge\text{Therefore, your answer should be:}\\\\\huge\boxed{\mathsf{(1)/(16)\ or\ (1)/(4^2)}}\huge\checkmark\\\large\text{Both should work because they are equal to each other}

\huge\text{Good luck on your assignment \& enjoy your day!}
