Solve the equation.

3x + 2(4x − 6) = 8x + 1

Answer:

=13/3

Explanation:

1. Distribute

3+2(4−6)=8+1

3+8−12=8+1

2. Combine like terms

3+8−12=8+1

11−12=8+1

3. Add 12 to both sides of the equation

11−12=8+1

11−12+12=8+1+12

4. Simplify

11=8+13

5. Subtract 8x from both sides of the equation

11=8+13

11−8=8+13−8

6. Simplify

3=13

7. Divide both sides of the equation by the same term

3=13

3x÷3=13÷3

8. Simplify

If you cancel terms that are in both the numerator and denominator you will get:

=13/3

Answer:

3x + 2(4x − 6) = 8x + 1

3x + (8x-12)=8x+1

-12=19x+1

-11=19x

-11/19 (Im pretty sure i did this right but at the same time im not, im sorry if i got this wrong)
