A garden is in the shape of a square with a perimeter of

56
feet. The garden is surrounded by two fences. One fence is around the perimeter of the garden, whereas the second fence is
3
feet from the first fence on the outside. If the material used to build the two fences is
$
1.24
per foot, what was the total cost of the fences?

i think it $19.74 here my reason 14×4=56 14×1.41=19.74each side of the square is 14 and it say $1.41 for per foot so multiply that with 14 = to 19.74

Answer:Total cost: 54.40 + 87.04 = $141.44

Explanation:

For the garden which is a square

4s = 40

s = 10

the garden is 10 ft by 10 ft

fence 1 around perimeter:

1.36(40) = $54.40

Now we need the dimensions of the outer fence:

We added 3 feet on top and bottom as well as left and right

The outer fence is 16 ft on a side

p = 4(16) = 64 ft

64(1.36) = $87.04

Total cost: 54.40 + 87.04 = $141.44
