Juan sees a maple tree and a pine tree in the forest. He knows that the pine tree is

21.13 feet tall. On a sunny day, the shadow of the pine is 5.3 feet long while the maple's shadow is 20.02 feet long. Estimate the height of the maple tree.

Answer:

approx. 80 feet

Explanation:

Round 5.3 -> 5, 20.02 -> 20

The shadow of the maple is approx. 20:5 = 4 times taller than the pine.
=> The real height of the maple also has to be around 4 times taller.

21.13 x 4 = 84.52 (but because we round the 2 numbers down, let's also round this to 80ft.)
