Answer: 2.5 hours

Explanation:

Given

Distance between A to B town is
d=145\ miles

Bus speed is 9 miles per hour faster than car

time taken by car is 2 hours and 54 minutes i.e.

t=2+(54)/(60)=2+0.9=2.9\ hr

Speed of car is v

\Rightarrow v=(d)/(t)=(145)/(2.9)=50\ mph

Speed of bus is
v+8=50+8=58\ mph

time taken by bus is t'

\Rightarrow t'=(d)/(v+8)=(145)/(58)=2.5\ hr\\\\\\\Rightarrow t'=2\ hr\ \text{and}\ 30\ \text{minutes}
