Enslaved people knew about the slave revolution, free soil, and emancipation without social media from the freed slaves. Freed slaves would typically go back to plantations and help other slaves to freedom. Another way was through songs, enslaved people created songs with hidden messages throughout them that held a deeper meaning which could either be when to escape, how to escape, or where to escape, etc. Not only this but enslaved people, mainly women, used their knowledge of sewing and crochet to make unique patterns on blankets that can plan out an escape or have information on how to escape, reforms, who to trust, and more.
