Given equations are :

y-x = 3 ......(1)

xy = 10 or

x = (10/y) ....(2)

Put the value of x in equation (1).


y-(10)/(y)= 3\\\\y^2-10=3y\\\\y^2-3y-10=0\\\\y=0\ and\ y=5

Put the value of y in equation (2).


x=(10)/(5)\\\\x=2

So, the value of x is equal to 2 and that of y is equal to 5.
