Answer:

82 adults 317 children

Explanation:

c= children

a = adults

A) a+ c = 399

B) 1.25(c) + 2.50(a) = 601.25

Multiply the whole A) by -1.25

Add A) +B) (c will be eliminated since 1.25c -1.25c=0)

-1.25 c - 1.25a = -498.74

1.25 c+ 2.50 a = 601.25

1.25 a = 102.50

Divide both sides by 1.25:

a = 82 (82 adults)

399-82 = 317 (317 children)

317 ($1.25) = $396.25 Price for 317 children

82($2.50) = $205 Price for 82 adults

Total:

$ 396.25 + $205 = $ 601.25

317 + 82 = 399

c =

Answer:

children: 317

adults: 82

Explanation:

x = children

y = adults

x + y = 399

125x + 250y = 60125

125x + 125y = 49875

125x + 250y = 60125

-125y = -10250

y = 82

x + y = 399

x + 82 = 399

x = 317
