If 33% of people chose vanilla and 19% chose chocolate as their favorite flavor of ice cream, what percent of people chose a flavor other than vanilla or chocolate

Well the most a Percentage can go to is 100%

We know :

33% chose Vanilla

and

19% chose Chocolate

Basically just add them together:

33 + 19 = 52

Now, Subtract the total percentage from the total number of people that voted for Chocolate AND Vanilla:

100 - 52 = 48

Final Answer: 48% chose a flavor other than Vanilla or Chocolate.
