4. Drew has 4 pieces of rope 1 meter long each. He cuts each rope into fifths.

a. how many fifths will he have after cutting all the ropes?
b. How long will each of the fifths be in centimeters?

Answer:

a. 20 pieces

b. 20cm each

Explanation:

a. 4*5=20

If he cut one of the ropes into 5 pieces, then you do the same to each of them. So that would be 5+5+5+5, which is 20.

b. 100/5=20cm

Using the question, we can assume that each rope is 1M, or 100cm. so instead of making 1meter split into 5 (which would be written as 1/5M) you instead do 100centimeters split into 5, which is 20cm each.
