Answer:

Explanation:

these are tough to solve , don't feel bad. soo part of the trick is that the two side set up similar triangles, then

16 / y = y /9 ( the two triangles

16* 9 =
y^(2)

144 =
y^(2)

12 = y

y is the length between the two triangles , so since we now know that part, we can solve the triangles.

lets use tan to solve one of the angles of the smaller triangle

TOA to remember how tan fits on a triangle

Tan = Opp / Adj

Tan(Ф) = 9/12

Ф = arcTan(9/12)

Ф = 36.869897

knowing that we can solve for x

use CAH cos = Adj / Hyp

Cos(36.869897) = 12 / Hyp

Hyp = 12/ Cos(36.869897)

Hyp = 15 :) that seems reallly good .. :P

x = 15 there you go

Answer:

its D

Explanation:

In a right triangle the hypotenuse which is 16+9 =25 has to be the largest side. Since x is not the hyportenuse it has to be lower which only leaves one answer : 15
