One way or another he would have had to face someone to get to be with the love of his life, and probably any kind of argument would end in death.

All this could have been avoided if Romeo had simply given up on his love for Juliet, but clearly he will not because he is very much in love, so much so that he even attempted against his own life for not being able to be with the great love of him.
