5. The two quantities A and B are inversely proportional. If A is

5 units, the value of B is 9 units. What is the value of B when
A is equal to 15 units?

Answer: 27

Explanation:

This is a proportion.

a = 5

b = 9

So A must equal 15. In order to get that we multiply by 3. Since we did that to A, we must also do it to B; that way we keep an equal proportion.

9 x 3 = 27
