200 cakes are shared out in a ratio of 1:2:3 in to groups a, b and c

group a = 33

group b = 66

group c = 99

Explanation:

group a, b and c = 1x 2x and 3x

add all and equate to 200

1x + 2x + 3x = 200

6x = 200

x = 200 ÷ 6 = 33 (rounded to the nearest whole number)

multiply this number into each ratio of 1:2:3

33 × 1 = 33 (group a)

33 × 2 = 66 (group b)

33 × 3 = 99 (group c)
