3. Spain wanted to set up missions to share their religion with others.

4. France wanted to trade fur to make a profit.

5. England wanted to set up colonies and practice their religion freely.

6. Since much of the fur trade took place in The Ohio Valley Territory, both the French and the British wanted control of the land.

7. The French built Fort Duquesne, where present-day Pittsburg is located.

8. George Washington led a group of soldiers to try and capture the French fort, but was unsuccessful.

9. Worried that the French would retaliate they built Fort Necessity which the French later attacked.
