D.B. Question: The Articles of Confederation - Identify three key weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation and explain why the "fear" of Monarchy created those policies and almost destroyed our young nation in its first 11 years?

i know one from like 8th grade: the articles of confederation gave the states so much power that what america was at the time was so weak since only the colonies had power. then the u.s. constitution completely changed our democracy.

1. Congess was unable to impose taxes it could only borrow money. To avoid any perception of “taxation without representation”. The congress could only borrow money from state which they could deny.
2. No national court system. They believed that a strong federal government would take away the rights of citizens. Each state had its own court. No way to stop fights between states.
3. No executive branch was created to enforce laws. They were concerned with the accumulation of power in too few hands. No way to enforce laws to protect us.
