Answer:

Imperialism in Africa had far more negative effects than positive effects. Colonialism, ethnic division, and military occupation by western Europeans led to the widespread destruction of native natural resources, urbanization of previously nomadic peoples, and the spread of foreign diseases. For example, the establishment of salt mines in Kenya and Tanzania by Europeans forced many natives into a situation that was essentially a euphemism for slavery; they had terrible working conditions, and extremely low pay in rations. Unfortunately, mines were just one example of worker and land exploitation. Many more existed in the form of plantations, where Africa was used as a low-cost exporter of raw materials and "cash crops" to Europe. And even more brutality of this system is apparent with the fact that the people who worked these mines and plantations rarely got the final processed goods in return.
