A function means that the x values can not repeat. For number one you can write it as follows:

The x values do not repeat making it a function.

For number 2 it can be written as follows:

(x,x) (w,w) (b,c) (b,e)....

The b value repeats making it not a function.

For the next two, domain is x and range is y. For number 3 the domain does not have any repeating numbers making it a function.

For number 4 the number -8 is repeating making it not a function.
