You are on your way to Thanksgiving Dinner. Uncle

Joe forgot to pick up Cool Whip for his famous
pumpkin pie. You gladly help out since you planned
to stop for gas by the grocery store anyway. You get
to the store and realize your wallet is at home.
Luckily, you find a crumpled $20 bill in your jacket! If
the cool whip is $2.19 per tub, and gas is $3.55 per
gallon, how many gallons of gas can you buy and still
afford the Whip Cream?
Round your answer to the nearest HUNDREDTH.
Use the inequality setup below to help you get
started.

Answer:

You could afford 5.00 gallons of gas and still afford to buy the Cool Whip.

Explanation:

20 - 2.19 = 17.81

17.81/3.55 = 5.01690140845 (rounded to the nearest hundredth is, 5.02) 5.02 would cost over $20 though, so we round it to $5

Check our answer! :

5 (3.55) = 17.75

17.75 + 2.19 = 19.94

It would cost you $19.94 to get gas and cool whip!

Hope this helped ! Happy Thanksgiving !
