Tell whether the equation represents direct variation. If so, identify the constant of variation. 3x+y=6

We have the next equation

3x+y=6

First we need to clear x

3x=6-y

x=(6-y)/3

Direct variation means we will have the same ratio of decrease or increase in the two variables in other words when x increases, y increases by the same factor

as we can see in the equation where x is clear the variation is not direct with a relation with y

so this equation does not represent a direct variation
