Let x be the number

The statement can be written mathematically as;

2x² = 24x + 8x

2x² - 8x - 24 = 0

x² - 4x - 12 = 0

We can solve this using factorisation method

x² - 6x + 2x - 12 = 0

x ( x- 6) + 2(x - 6) = 0

(x - 6) (x + 2) = 0

Either x - 6 = 0 or x + 2 = 0

x = 6 or x = -2
