If the point (3,-2) is dilated by a scale factor of 4 what is the resulting point

Step 1. In order to dilate a point, the first step is to multiply the x-coordinate and the y-coordinate by the scale factor.

The point we have is:


(3,-2)

And the scale factor is:


4

--> We have to multiply both numbers in the point by 4:


(3*4,-2*4)

Step 2. Simplify the multiplications:


(12,-8)

This is the resulting point.

Answer: (12,-8)
