Then

Appplying the principle of ratio, we have

`\begin{gathered} \text{the ratio of the length of the rectangular laptop=the ratio of the table} \\ \text{Hence } \\ (8)/(5)=(L)/(40) \end{gathered}`

Taking the cross product of the equation above, we have

`\begin{gathered} 5L=40*8 \\ \\ \end{gathered}`

Divide both sides by 5, we have

`\begin{gathered} (5L)/(5)=(40*8)/(5) \\ \text{Then} \\ L=8*8=64in \\ L=64in \end{gathered}`
