x = 6 and y = -4

Here, we want to solve the systems of equation simultaneously using the elimination method

To use the elimination method in this case, we simply subtract the second equation from the first

Thus, we have it that;

\begin{gathered} (3x-3x)+(2y-(-y))=\text{ 10-22} \\ \\ 3y\text{ = -12} \\ \\ y\text{ = }(-12)/(3) \\ \\ y\text{ = -4} \end{gathered}

To get x, we simply substitute y= -4 in any of the two equations

\begin{gathered} 3x\text{ + 2(-4) = 10} \\ \\ 3x-8\text{ = 10} \\ \\ 3x\text{ = 10 + 8} \\ \\ 3x\text{ = 18} \\ \\ x\text{ = }(18)/(3) \\ \\ x\text{ = 6} \end{gathered}
