First we need to get rid of the "+3" by subtracting 3 (from both sides of the equation so each side remains equal). We will get ridd of the +3 on the left and subtract 3 from 13 on the right (13-3=10).

2x=10

Now we divide by 2 on both sides the same way we did with subtracting the 3 (10÷2=5).

x=5
