The area of the circle is equal to

A=\pi\cdot r^2

we have

pi=3.14

D=8 in

r=D/2=8/2=4 in -----> the radius is half the diameter

substitute given values in the formula

\begin{gathered} A=3.14\cdot4^2 \\ A=50.24 \end{gathered}

therefore

The area is 50.24 square inches (50.24 in2)
