Given the composite figure shown.

We will find the area with the help of the following figure:

The area = green rectangle - ( red rectangle + red triangle)

The area of the green rectangle = 5 x 7 = 35 ft²

The area of the red rectangle (shape 1) = 1 x 4 = 4 ft²

The area of the red triangle (shape 2) = 1/2 x 2 x 2 = 2 ft²

So, the total area = 35 - (4+2) = 29 ft²

So, the answer will be Area = 29 ft²
