x = 4

y = 3.5

Explanation:

-3x + 4y = 2 [1]

-6 + 6y = -3 [2]

multiply [1] by 3 (name it [3] )

multiply [2] by 2 (name it [4])

-9x + 12y = 6 [3]

-12x + 12y = -6 [4]

subtract [3] from [4] which gives you

3x = 12

x = 4

substitute x=4 into [1]

-3(4) + 4y = 2

-12 + 4y = 2

4y = 14

y = 3.5
