Evaluate 2(x-1), if x= -3

To evaluate the expression for x = -3, we simply put in -3 whereever we see x in the expression.

Doing this gives us


2(x-1)\rightarrow2(-3-1)

We now simplify the expression on the right


=2(-4)
=-8

which is our answer!
