Did Japan achieve its desired goal in the attack on Pearl Harbor? Why or why not?

Yes mostly, the goal waas to destroy the American fleet and crush the spirits of Americans. They only succeeded in this partly. The attack DID weaken the fleet of the American's but it also gave them the resolve to enter the war.
