Let Mr. Scuggs got x money on his birthaday.

The spent mone on dog treats is 1/5 means that 1/5x.

1:

Determine the money he left after dog treats.

\begin{gathered} x-(1)/(5)x=(5x-x)/(5) \\ =(4x)/(5) \end{gathered}

The remaining money is divided among 3 charities.

Determine the money recieved by each charity.

\begin{gathered} ((4x)/(5))/(3)=(4x)/(5\cdot3) \\ =(4x)/(15) \end{gathered}

The fraction of money exh charity recieve is 4/15.

2:

The equation for the x is 4x/15 = 60.

Smplify the equation for x.

\begin{gathered} (4x)/(15)=60 \\ x=(60\cdot15)/(4) \\ =15\cdot15 \\ =225 \end{gathered}

So, he recieve 225 on his birthday.
