We solve the above question using the Trigonometric function of Sine.

sin θ = Opposite/ Hypotenuse

Hypotenuse = Length of the ladder = 13.5m

Opposite = d

θ = 59° 22'

= 59° + 22/60

= 59° + 0.367

= 59.367°

Hence,

sin 59.367 = d/13.5m

d = sin 59.367 × 13.5m

d = 11.616057416m

Approximately = 11.6m

Therefore, the distance d the ladder goes up the wall is 11.6m
