A ferry traveled 1/6 of distance two points in 3/7 hour. The ferry travels at a constant rate. At this rate what fraction of the distance between the two points can the ferry travel in one hour?

2) To solve that we need to set a proportion, since the ferry traves at a constant rate.

1/6 of distance ----------3/7 hour

x 1 hour

Cross Multiplying it

3/7x = 1/6 Multiply by 7

3x = 7/6 Divide by 3

x = 7/6 *1/3

x = 7/18

3) So at this rate, the ferry will travel in one hour 7 /18 of the distance between the two points
