Solve using factoring.

I’m assuming from my notes that we also have to solve for the zeroes of the function

x^2 – 49 = 0

x^2-49=0

factor it by simplifying

(x-7)(x+7)=0

Now solve for 0:

x-7=0

x=7

x+7=0

x=-7

so the ANSWER IS: x=7 and x=-7

Answer:

x = ± 7

Explanation:

x² - 49 = 0 ← x² - 49 is a difference of squares and factors in general as

a² - b² = (a - b)(a + b) , then

x² - 7² = 0

(x - 7)(x + 7) = 0

equate each factor to zero and solve for x

x + 7 = 0 ⇒ x = - 7

x - 7 = 0 ⇒ x = 7

then x = ± 7 ← are the zeros
