A graph is said to be symmetric with the y-axis if, for any point (x, y), there exists a point (-x, y) on the graph.

In this case, when x is replaced with -x, the equation remains unchanged.

Thus, for symmetry with respect to the y-axis,


f(x,y)\text{ = f(-x, y)}
