The CFTR (Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance Regulator) is a membrane protein used to move chloride ions out of a cell by active transport. The active transport is a process where the movement of ions/ molecules across the cell membrane occurs from a region with lower concentration into a region with higher concentration, because of that is a process that requires energy. The CFTR is a protein that assists the active transport, and the alternative that is a best example for the proposed situation is B. a reaction coupled with hydrolisis of ATP.
