Remember that

• the ,x intercept ,happens when ,y = 0

,

• the ,y intercept ,happens when ,x = 0

Let's equal y to 0 and clear x to find the x intercept

\begin{gathered} 8y=5x-2\rightarrow8(0)=5x-2\rightarrow0=5x-2 \\ \rightarrow2=5x\rightarrow(2)/(5)=x \\ \rightarrow x=(2)/(5) \end{gathered}

Therefore, the x intercept is 2/5

Let's equal x to 0 and clear y to find the y intercept

\begin{gathered} 8y=5x-2\rightarrow8y=5(0)-2\rightarrow8y=-2\rightarrow y=-(2)/(8) \\ y=-(1)/(4) \end{gathered}

Therefore, the y intercept is -1/4
