When an equation is in slope-intercept form, how can you tell the difference between the slope and the y-intercept?

Slope-intercept form is y = mx + c

where m is the slope and c is the y-intercept

To find the difference between m and c, we need to the values of them first by knowing the graph of y and then picking two points lie on the graph

then substitute with the points to find m and c

so, the difference is m - c

i think the question asking for the meaning of the slope and y -intercept

the slope: represents the rate of the change between x and y or by another words how much y will change if x changed

y-intercept: is the value of y when x = 0 or also it represents the intersection with y-axis which has the coordinates of (0 , c)

for example: if y = 2x + 3

so, the slope is 2 and y-intercept is 3

so, when x changed by the rate of 1, y will be changed by the rate of 2 or twice as much as x changed

while the number 3 represents the point at which the line intersects with y-axis which is the point (0 , 3)
