Answer

1) The value to multiply the second equation by is 2.

2) The problem created by using the elimination method on the system above is 8x = 16

3) x = 2

y = 2

Step-by-step explanation

4x - 2y = 4

2x + y = 6

In order to solve this system of equation, we will try to eliminate y. To do this, we will multiply equation 2 by 2

4x - 2y = 4

2x + y = 6

4x - 2y = 4

4x + 2y = 12

Adding the two equations now, we have

4x + 4x - 2y + 2y = 4 + 12

8x + 0 = 16

8x = 16

To find the value of x, we will divide both sides by 8

(8x/8) = (16/8)

x = 2

We can then solve for y

2x + y = 6

2(2) + y = 6

4 + y = 6

y = 6 - 4

y = 2

Hope this Helps!!!
