Answer:

In 10 seconds, Total number of calculations can be perform = 10⁶

Step-by-step explanation:

Given - A certain computer can perform 10^5 calculations per second.

To find - How many calculations can it perform in 10 seconds?

Proof -

Given that,

In 1 second, a computer can perform calculations = 10⁵

⇒In 10 second , a computer can perform calculations = 10 × 10⁵

= 10¹⁺⁵ = 10⁶

⇒In 10 second , a computer can perform calculations = 10⁶

Note :

If two different values are multiplied and if their base is same then the powers are added.

For example -

2⁴ ₓ 2³ = 2⁴⁺³ = 2⁷

⇒2⁴ ₓ 2³ = 2⁷
