x^2-2x-10=0Solution


x^2-2x-10=0

Keep x terms on the left and move the constant to the right side by adding it on both sides


x^2-2x=10

Take half of the x term and square it


(-2*(1)/(2))^2=1

Then add the result to both sides


x^2-2x+1=10+11

Rewrite the perfect square on the left


(x-1)^2=10+1

and combine terms on the right


(x-1)^2=11

Take the square root of both sides


\begin{gathered} x-1=\pm√(11) \\ x=1\pm√(11) \\ \end{gathered}

simplify
