The length of legs of right angle triangle is a = 9 and b = 40.

The equaltion for the length of hypotenuse by pythaoras theorem is,

h=\sqrt[]{a^2+b^2}

Determine the length of hypotenuse.

\begin{gathered} h=\sqrt[]{(9)^2+(40)^2} \\ =\sqrt[]{81+1600} \\ =\sqrt[]{1681} \\ =41 \end{gathered}

Thus length of hypotenuse is 41 centimeters.
