We know that,


ab=ad+db

Length of the segment ab is 10 cm.


10=2x+3x


10=5x

Divide both sides by 5.


2=x

Now,


ad=2x


ad=2(2)


ad=4

Therefore, the length of segment ad is 4 centimetres.
