1) Given that the circle has an area measured as 1/2 of it and another measured 1/3 of the whole circle

Let's add those parts:

1/2 +1/3 Calculating the LCM of 2,3

3+2/6

5/6

2) The whole circle is 1. So if we subtract 5/6 of 1 we'll find the shaded area. Let's do it

1 - 5/6 = Calculating the LCM of 1, 6

6-5/6 =

1/6 is the shaded area
